Police and fire experts were investigating last Saturday’s blaze, which they believe was started deliberately in a trailer-load of sawdust.

General manager Gareth Johnson told BBC News the fire was a “huge blow” but said the hunt was on for a new site to keep Pant’s 17 staff working.

“Although we’ve lost our workshop, there’s no question of us giving up,” he said.

Workers managed to salvage some material 24 hours after the fire so they could fulfil an order for windows.

The 50-year-old company has asked Wrexham and Flintshire Council and the Welsh Development Agency to help find a temporary workshop.
