Kronospan and Grajewo look set to fight it out for the Polish government’s minority share in panel manufacturer Prospan SA.

Both Kronospan and Pfleiderer-owned Grajewo, which already owns a 57% stake in Prospan, have expressed interest in the government’s 43% share in the company.

Grajewo believes competition authoritites would not let Kronospan acquire Prospan, as Kronospan would control nearly half the Polish panel market.

Prospan produces a wide range of products including particleboard, floor panels and worktops. It also plans to enter MDF production.
