Pendle Doors Ltd has acquired Palgrave Brown’s door division from administrators for an undisclosed sum.
Blackburn-based Pendle, a member of the British Woodworking Federation, has bought the assets, goodwill, trademarks and stock of Castleford-based Palgrave Brown (Doors) Ltd.
Pendle’s managing director Steve Anderson described the acquisition as a good marriage as Palgrave Brown was a Secured by Design and PAS 23&24 accredited manufacturer, whereas Pendle specialised in fire doors, veneered and panelled doors.
All 25 staff at Castleford are being retained and the business will be renamed Pendle Doorsets Ltd, operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pendle Doors.
Palgrave Brown went into administration in October, with administrators subsquently making 400 redudancies and closing 14 of the original 17 sites.
Other remaining sites at Doncaster and Brinscall are thought to be on the point of being acquired by a competitor roof truss manufacturer.
