The Ormskirk-based South Ribble Timber manufacturing site has been closed and customer orders are now being dealt with from Palgrave Brown’s head office at nearby Brinscall.
Palgrave Brown said the acquisition will boost its £62m turnover by an additional £1.5m.
Alan Fillingham, timber trading director at Palgrave Brown, said: “This acquisition is a win-win for everyone concerned and will mean that we can continue to expand our business and customer base.”
Carvers bought the South Ribble Timber business in 2000, increasing sales from £800,000 to £1.8m by 2005.
With the purchase of an additional 10-acre site in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton bringing its two Midlands depots to 21 acres, and the planned transfer of timber production to the newly-acquired depot, the Carver board decided to concentrate on expanding the business in the Midlands where it has been operating for nearly 110 years.
The company is also expanding its Shrewsbury-based Engineered Timber Solutions truss rafter business in which it has a 50% shareholding.
Ivan Savage, main board sales director who had responsibility for South Ribble Timber, has been appointed to the board of Engineered Timber Solutions to help expand the business.
