Engineered timber specialist Palgrave Brown has opened its first office in France.
Mike Fleming, group sales and marketing director, who believes the company is the first of its type from the UK to test the market across the Channel, explained: “We have done it to accommodate someone who worked for us and moved there.”
Although Palgrave Brown is not actively selling in France just yet, Mr Fleming said it is an option and one the company could look to develop.
“We have reason to think it may be a good idea for certain products and lines we have.”
The new office in Brittany is headed up by Dave Cox, former branch manager at Palgrave Brown’s Bodmin site. Mr Fleming said: “He has already won a lot of timber engineering work across a broad range from floors to roofs.
“They do use roof trusses and floor systems in certain parts of France, but it is not a market we have a lot of information on. Once we have got the market intelligence together, who knows what it may bring. There is even a possibility that we may manufacture in France if we find there is a niche.”
