Pakistan is to crack down on timber smuggling in its North West Frontier Province.
Provincial senior minister Sirajul Haq said smuggling of Afghan timber in the border area would not be tolerated and warned that vehicles would be checked.
Mr Haq said the provincial government wanted to preserve its forests and would punish those involved in the trade of illegal timber, including corrupt forest officials.
His strong words follow public complaints about smuggling in the region.
