Geoffrey Osborne Ltd has been appointed design and build contractor for a £2.45m timber frame development in Worthing, Sussex.
The Chichester-based company is turning the site, originally allocated for business use and lately used for grazing, into 30 affordable homes for social housing firm Worthing Homes. Construction has started and will be completed by January 2005.
Osborne, which mostly uses off-site construction methods to build homes, will use timber roof panels to create extra space in the roofs, as well as tile bricks and passive ventilation.
Richard Borg, operations manager for Osborne’s homes division, said; “The decision was made to use timber frame rather than traditional build, making use of off-site fabrication.”
