Scottish timber frame firm Oregon Timber Frame has announced a fresh round of redundancies as it seeks to save costs in the difficult housing market.

The Selkirk-based company is making 10 further people redundant but warned that up to 17 jobs may be affected in total. Earlier in the year the company announced 37 job losses.

“This strategic cost cutting exercise will ensure a stable business model, which will allow us to expand relatively rapidly when the market returns to normal,” said managing director John Merry.

Oregon said it had a record order book still to be fulfilled and the financial and physical resources to allow for a quick resumption of growth when the market returns.
