Panel producer VC Industries Ltd (VCI) has notched up £750,000 of orders in its first three months of operation.

The company started up in August when it purchased the assets of the former Renaissance Interiors, which had gone into administration. The 38,000ft2 factory at Stourton, near Leeds, houses more than £1.5m of machinery.

VCI was faced with building up the order book almost from scratch and re-staffing. With a new management structure and manufacturing ethos it is now widening its market from office furniture components to include the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and furniture industries.

Director Pauline Vernon, who has previously worked for the Symphony Group and BLP, said the company was seeking to move into more added value work.

She said: “We have quickly established our name and position in the market place. Our philosophy is simple – to get it right first time, on time. Customer feedback to date has been extremely positive.”

In addition to the standard cutting, edging and drill work, VCI also handles a limited amount of assembly.

To enhance the quality culture at the company, work has started towards ISO 9000/2000 accreditation.
