Work on the wooden roof of the Richmond Oval in Vancouver is on target for completion in January, the City of Richmond has said.
The venue, which will play host to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games speed skating events, has a roof featuring 15 100m-span glulam beams that are joined by a wood wave structure made from more than one million board feet of pine-beetle kill wood topped with plywood.
Construction work is now set to move on to the second floor slab that will house the speed skating track. The venue is set to open in autumn next year.
