The final section of the Richmond Oval’s 6.5-acre timber roof has been lifted into place, rounding off a massive project to promote the use of pine beetle-killed wood.
The roof of the speed skating venue for the Canadian 2010 Winter Games features 15 glulam beams, 100m in length, supporting a “wood wave” design constructed from one million board feet of pine beetle-killed wood from British Columbia forests.
