Polish trader Dombal needed a new storage solution to cope with its growing range of goods for the garden, construction and play area markets and to improve stock access.
The US$3.5m turnover business stored its products outside, with glulam and other construction timber in 10m packs, and smaller goods in various sizes kept in separate stacks.
The Ohra cantilever racking accommodates all the company’s products. Supported on hot-rolled steel columns, the cantilever arms attach on a 100mm grid system and can be moved without tools to accommodate different sized product. Dombal selected 1200mm arm lengths, capable of holding up to 800kg each.
Ohra also engineered the 7m-high frame to support a roof, taking into account prevailing wind loads. In total, the installation took three months.
ITS Rotterdam has had its new warehouse fitted out with a 9m-high Ohra system, with 460 pallet places and 396m of cantilever racks.
The Dutch company needed the storage to accommodate timber, including heavyweight hardwoods, panel products and other building materials, and the system designed by Ohra comprised 36m rows of cantilever racks and two rows of pallet racking.
The height of the system made best use of floor space and reduced distances travelled by ITS’s specially-designed narrow aisle Hubtex fork lifts. Guide rails were also fitted to ensure the latter’s safe operation.
