Born in Liverpool on March 13, 1937, Mr Menzies started in the timber trade as an apprentice with Corkhill-Best in 1953   and then joined Corkhill-Hyslop needing his father’s permission to go to Ghana to join the office in Takoradi.

Mr Menzies was active in the hardwood trade around the world and was very well-known and respected.

He was president of the North West Timber Trade Association in 1984/85 and was a passionate supporter of the TTBS, serving on the regional committee in the north-west and what is now the southern area.

He served as a trustee of the TTBS from 2007 until 2018 and was national president in 2003/2004.   He remained active on the national committee even after retirement and will be sadly missed by all.

Mr Menzies is survived by his daughter, Jenny and son -in-law, Richard Carter, who continues to trade with Ghana through RJC Agencies, which Mr Menzies helped to establish.
