William (Bill) Sebborn, founder of joinery manufacturer Fairoak Timber Products, died on September 9 at Salisbury Hospice. He was 73.

Mr Sebborn, who will be remembered for his role in bringing the H window to the UK, started his career in the timber industry in the 1950s when he took up an apprenticeship with HN Edwards in Basingstoke.

He established STD Joinery in 1963. The company became Holbrow Windows in 1984 and the business closed in 1991.

The following year Mr Sebborn established Fairoak Timber Products, where he remained until his retirement in March this year.

He is survived by his wife Joan, sons Richard and Terry, who run Fairoak, and daughter Libbey.
