A New Zealand company has received a NZ$1m funding boost from the government to develop a powder coating process for timber products.
Climate Coatings, of Auckland, plans to match the funding from government agency Technology New Zealand – granted as part of a programme to help firms move towards added-value and high margin products.
The company believes powder coatings will transform timber, including engineered and low quality woods, into a high-performance and finished product.
Climate says the technology will add value to the country’s growing supply of timber. The company plans to take the process worldwide through partnerships and licensing.
