Norway’s biggest forest fire for more than 60 years has reportedly been brought under control.

Reports from the country suggest firefighters are now in control of the fire which has hit 7,500 acres in Froland.

The Norway Post quoted the local mayor as saying costs could reach US$10m.

The blaze, near Arendal to the south-west of Oslo, started during a heatwave.

A forest fire in neighbouring Sweden earlier consumed 1,100ha in the Halsingsland district.
