North-east golfers notched up more successes – and fund-raising – at the recent Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society Autumn Golf Day in Hartlepool.
In the morning pairs competition the Hillas Trophy and the prize for Best Scores went to Gilmour McKellar and Ian Ashworth of Technology for Timber.
Andrew Winney of S Metcalfe had a successful day, making it a hat-trick with the Wilson Cup for 16 and over; Best Score Overall and the Jack Wilson Trophy for veterans of 50+. He also scooped second prize in the morning pairs for Best Score (Allcomers) with his brother David (Abba Kilns).
After lunch, Mark Hutchinson of North Yorkshire Timber won the Summersby Salver for 15 and under, with Nick McCluskey of Miller Homes winning second prize. James Southern of MH Southern took the prize for nearest the pin and the longest drive went to Alan Preece of George Harrison.
With sponsorship from BASF Wolman, James Jones & Sons and Walter Fairhurst Wood Machinery, and Hartlepool Golf Club contributing £140 for outstanding green fees, £1,252 was raised for the TTBS.
