The 67-page document released by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says global warming will affect North American forests in the form of increasing wildfires, insect infestations and disease.

The report, compiled by scientists, says countermeasures and more investment is needed to avert the problem. Otherwise, they are 90% sure that hot temperatures and extreme weather will cause adverse impacts.

Up to 40% of North America’s plant and animal species are threatened with extinction within decades, they say.
