A wood purchasing partnership between Södra and Norske Skog is to end after nine years.

The two companies have been buying wood for their Norwegian mills through a jointly owned company, Wood and Logistics AS (WoodLog) since 2000 when Södra acquired the Tofte and Folla pulp mills from Norske Skog.

Due to changes requirements relating to issues such as certification and different species, Södra has decided to establish its own wood procurement operation in Norway and Norske Skog will take over its 28% shareholding on December 31.

Existing contracts between WoodLog and wood suppliers will be fulfilled, even after Norske Skog takes over complete control of the company.
