To step up its momentum and strengthen ties with the UK timber trade, the Nordic First advertising campaign is organising a special ‘business to business’ meeting at the BBC Good Homes Show.
The Nordic Timber Council-backed marketing effort is also turning its energies to solid softwood flooring at the exhibition.
The meeting at the NEC, Birmingham, on May 9 will be an opportunity for members of the UK trade to meet the backers of the £1.4m a year advertising initiative, the leading Nordic timber suppliers.
The NTC’s chairman Bo Borgstrom will explain the objectives of the promotion and some of the timber firms will present their latest products.
Berit Sannes, director for international affairs at the Norwegian Forest Owners Federation, will give delegates an update on the main forestry certification systems in Nordic countries.
‘We are targeting the event at the UK merchanting trade, wholesalers , the agents and, of course, the importers who have been particularly enthusiastic and supportive of the campaign, said NTC senior project manager Sanna Myrttinen.
The solid softwood flooring workshop will look at the potential for developing the market in the UK. There will be product displays, presentations and installation and maintenance demonstrations, with suppliers involved including, Siljan, Loelven, DalaFloda Golvet. Pölkky and Norlida.
‘The UK timber flooring market is growing rapidly and we see particularly strong opportunities for softwoods in the R&M sector,’ said Ms Myrttinen.
Nordic First is taking a 90m² stand at the BBC Good Homes Show, which runs from May 9-13. The campaign’s celebrity front person, TV gardener Charlie Dimmock, will be there on May 10 and 12.
