Stirling-based NorDan UK, which has offices throughout the UK, said its new strategy offers a full door, window and curtain walling turnkey supply and installation service for the government’s programme.

Phil Hulse, general manager at NorDan’s Leeds project management office, said the strategy addressed the needs of contractors to supply window products that met the high energy-efficiency targets set by the government’s programme.

“Recognising that our products are perfectly fit for purpose in this application, this has been well received already, in particular contractors who understand the benefit of embracing a fabric first approach,” he said.

“Having eight manufacturing plants across Europe means we are well placed to supply our timber aluminium-clad window and composite door products in high volumes.”

Shepherd Construction is already using NorDan’s aluminium-clad timber windows and doors for two major new build school programmes – the £12m Priory Ruskin Academy at Grantham – with units fitted with electronic actuators to manage classroom temperatures in hot summers.

The £14m Ercall Wood Technology College will also have NorDan windows.

The government programme, managed by the Department of Education, will see 261 schools rebuilt or improved, with the first school to be completed in 2014.
