Panel manufacturer Norbord has played host to a visit from 50 apprentices from Stirling-based Ogilvie Construction.

The apprentices, who are based throughout Scotland, were given a tour of Norbord’s facilities in Cowie as part of Ogilvie’s Annual Apprentice Day programme, which gives trainees the opportunity to visit a business relevant to their careers.

“This has been a tremendous opportunity for them to see the sheet materials they work with on site under manufacture by Norbord,” said Ian Main, group human resources manager at Ogilvie.

Kevin Burke, site manager at Norbord’s Cowie site, said that the day had been “valuable” and a “beneficial learning experience” for the apprentices as it showed them how the materials are produced.

As well as taking in Norbord’s manufacturing facilities, the tour included information on the company’s health and safety procedures and how it tackles logistical issues at the site.
