The product is believed to be the first leach-resistant type of fire retardant to become a WPA-approved product.

Non-Com Exterior is already listed within the WPA’s Flame Retardant Specification Manual – a status awarded solely on the manufacturer’s own declaration on the hygroscopic and leach resistance properties of the product.

"Approved" status goes a step further by involving an assessment of fire performance data by an independent panel of experts appointed by the WPA.

Lonza fire retardant manager Jacqui Hughes said approved status would give specifiers and merchants extra assurance about the perforance of the product.
