North America’s National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) has refocused its operations as it looks to safeguard the future of the industry.

The new focus includes addressing and tackling the key challenges facing the hardwood sector, including certification, global trade and career development initiatives within its members, as well as working more closely with The American Hardwood Export Council, the Hardwood Council and the Hardwood Federation.

It has also adopted a new logo to signify its new direction,

“In just the last decade, the US hardwood industry has seen transformational changes,” said NHLA president Jim Howard.

“Over the past 18 months, NHLA’s leadership has been developing a new communications and outreach strategy to address current challenges and future opportunities. NHLA is turning over a new leaf.”

Mr Howard added the new focus would enable the organisation to carry on the “legacy of its forefathers and become visionaries of the industry today”.
