NHBC’s latest stats show new homebuilding registrations increased in July over the previous month, rising to 10,638 (June: 9,263).

The figure also outstrips the 8,403 new homes registered with NHBC in July 2009.

For the quarter May to July, registrations increased to 30, 771 – a 30% growth on the same period last year.

But NHBC chief executive Imtiaz Farookhi said the figures should not be taken out of context.

“It does seem clear that following the very strong recovery we witnessed in the first quarter of the year, volumes appear to have reached a plateau at levels well above last year’s depressed volumes, but still materially below their long-term trend,” he said.

For the quarter, private sector registrations were up 38%, while in the public sector they rose 17%.
