Striking new contemporary beach huts earmarked for Boscombe, Bournemouth are likely to feature both a timber structure and cladding.

“The Seagull and the Windbreak”, made up of four beach huts, designed by AEREA in conjunction with a:b:i:r architects, is likely to feature an insulated timber structure for both walls and roof.

The designers considered powder-coated aluminium for the coloured cladding “stripes”, but concern over the material’s performance in a marine environment has made them look at a painted timber finish.

The winning design was chosen out of 173 original entries from all over over the world.
