The changes follow Alan Mellor’s retirement as chairman. Steve Young, the association secretary, will succeed him and Janet Sycamore, formerly of Arch Timber Protection – now Lonza – takes over as secretary.

Caroline Hewison, also formerly with Arch, has become business support administrator following Alison Winterbottom’s retirement.

"Steve is director of the Wood Protection Association as well, so he decided to take a step back, but will bring his experience as chairman of the TDCA," said Ms Sycamore. "Additionally he will assist with technical support and site inspections where necessary."
The TDCA grew from the Timber Decking Association in 2010 due to demand for technical, support and quality assurance services in the cladding sector.

The organisation is currently launching on a programme of market analysis and communications and online content development, having recently launched a new decking website (www.tda.org.uk).

"A key issue is also the cladding standard, which is being developed at the British Standard Institute. We were developing our own, but when this opportunity came along we put that on hold to work on the panel with BSI. A specification and a code of practicewill be out next year and we will develop our interpretation document," Ms Sycamore said.
