Two New Zealand mills, East Coast Lumber and Clapham’s Saw Milling, are joining forces with the US-based Bright Wood Corporation to investigate the viability of creating a new processing site in Wairoa.

Bright Wood is one of the largest manufacturers of window and door components in the world.

If built, the new plant would be sited near the rail head and would include kiln dryers, planers and a wood fired boiler for waste management.

Wairoa, on the North Island’s east coast, is ideally located for the venture which could create 100 new jobs as it is in an area of abundant wood resources and has direct access to rail and the Port of Napier.
