The new owner of Metpost, a leading supplier of fence post supports, has relocated the company’s South Wales operation to Hartlepool and is planning to build on the strength of the brand.

Exmet Building Products Group, which acquired Metpost as part of the purchase of Hartlepool-based builders’ metalwork supplier Expamet earlier this year, has a five-year expansion plan and acquisition strategy, which includes buying other companies in the building products sector.

“Metpost is a very popular and well-respected brand,” said Nigel Dickinson, Exmet’s sales director. “Our intention is to build upon the company’s strong foundations over the next few years.

“We plan to introduce a range of new products whilst maintaining and improving the excellent service levels currently provided to customers.”

Expamet plans to further develop Metpost’s customer base by improving communication and expanding the account management team, along with a more dedicated and improved research and development facility.

Metpost metal fence post supports are designed to allow the erection of timber fence posts without the need for digging holes or mixing concrete. The brand also has post extender products to raise the height of existing fences.

Metpost started business in a Berkshire garage but the brand now has an international reputation and its products are now sold in many countries.
