Oregon Timber Frame is backing a new initiative which is claimed will deliver the first mass-market affordable eco-home in Scotland.

The house, a partnership between South Lanarkshire College, Dawn Homes and 20 other private sector partners, will also be used to teach students about the principle of sustainable design.

Dubbed the ‘Aurora’, the house will feature a timber frame design, as well a host of eco-technologies and green building techniques. The four-bedroomed detached house is scalable, allowing smaller or larger properties and semi-detached and detached or terraced styles to be produced.

“We have thought carefully about the design and integration of technologies during the off-site construction phase,” said Robin Dodyk, technical director of Oregon Timber Frame.

“During the build of the timber frame, we are incorporating innovative features that will minimise air leakage from the completed house.”
