KAST SIA’s Riga facility is serving a growing demand for high-value kiln-dried and treated timber products from UK merchants and timber frame manufacturers.

The company says it is reducing delivery times, handling and costs by shipping products in curtain-sided trucks, which are then driven direct to customers.

KAST SIA’s £150,000 facility at Sala port comprises a 15m-long low pressure treatment vessel capable of treating 4,000m3 a month on a single shift capacity, using Arch Timber Protection’s Vacsol Aqua water-based preservative.

The company says the low pressure treatment reduces water uptake and lowers the overall weight of the treated timber, allowing each truck to carry more timber.
