Some 2,756 reports have been run since the launch of a new joinery industry credit checking service during the summer.

The British Woodworking Federation’s (BWF) service has resulted in an average of 45 reports being run daily by BWF members.

The service enables members to limit their exposure to outstanding debt by running detailed financial reports on new and existing customers to confirm their credit worthiness.

“We had been hearing horror stories from members who had completed work for customers only to find that they are unable to pay their invoice,” said BWF chief executive Richard Lambert, explaining the decision to launch the service.
