Sam Faulkner is the latest generation to join the family business of Waltham Abbey-based Color-Board Ltd.
Mr Faulkner has joined the business as a trainee and will work in all departments.
Managing director Liz Faulkner said he had already made a difference in the warehouse, speeding up throughput and enabling the company to increase activity in the spray booth. She said she was pleased with the injection of new enthusiasm, at a time when business has experienced some low moments and there is a grave shortage of work for young people.
Color-Board, which was established in 1959 and spans five generations, provides curtain coating to paint wood-based panels.
