The new president of the European Timber Trade Association (FEBO) is aiming to increase the industry’s links with Brussels.

Franz-Josef Kall wants to improve contacts with the European Commission and with appropriate MEPs, with FEBO’s first parliamentary evening last November in Brussels serving as a basis for further developments.

Mr Hall said the timber trade needed to find a “common voice” in Brussels on essential matters.

He also said the fragmentation of the European timber and wood importing trades under the umbrella of several federations needed to be overcome in the medium term.
