A new company has been set up to help fill the dearth of installers within the timber window industry.
Somerset-based Rooksbridge Windows Ltd has been set up by joiner Stephen Newton, formerly the owner and sales manager of Clifton Joinery.
He has taken on a site in Rooksbridge, which includes 3,500ft² of storage space, and will source bespoke windows from a number of manufacturers.
Mr Newton said the seed for the new venture was born out of British Woodworking Federation meetings in London, where he would hear about the need for specialised installers.
“Rather than get caught up in the manufacturing, I can buy the windows and don’t need to find out who can work overtime and whether the spray pump is working,” he said. “Manufacturing is a large job and takes up all your efforts.”
Rooksbridge will supply and install windows in the south-west, East Midlands and London, speaking direct to customers including architects and contractors.
Mr Newton said he believed the service filled a gap in the market and would “take the pain away” from the process of suppling windows.
Rooksbridge will officially launch this month.
