Peter Johnson, managing director of Vicaima UK, is to take over as chairman of the BWF-CERTIFIRE Fire Door & Doorset Scheme at the forthcoming members’ meeting. He succeeds Ian Purkis, who led the scheme for five years which saw it expand its membership and influence.
Mr Johnson said he was delighted to be appointed chairman “at this important time”.
“My aim will be to try to forge closer links with both the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Builders Merchants Federation to ensure that BWF-CERTIFIRE certificated fire doors are specified and delivered into the UK market,” he said. “I will also try to gain agreement with the prime door manufacturers to factory glaze all doors ordered with openings.”
He added that he was keen to encourage the use of door kits and doorsets to ensure that all components conform to fire test evidence using certified materials.
