Organisers of the Interbuild exhibition in Birmingham have reported visitor figures of around 20,000 for this year’s event but have admitted that the dropping of the “Interbuild” branding from the main part of the show may have hit attendance.

The Built Environment Solutions & Technologies Show (BEST) – the main feature of the exhibition – attracted about 15,000 people (unaudited), whereas the smaller linked exhibition Interbuild Onsite, featuring mainly tools and vehicles, was attended by 4,929 visitors.

The total attendance was broadly similar to last year.

“In the first year of BEST, our promise to exhibitors has been about quality of attendee,” said BEST show director David Pierpoint.

“While we may have lost visitors having dropped the Interbuild name after years of history, the power specifiers and construction professionals we have gained this year have delivered a strong buying dynamic to the show that has resulted in a very strong exhibitor rebook for next year.”

BEST featured several sawmillers and timber companies, as well as the Glassex exhibition.

In 2007, the Interbuild show attracted 40,000 visitors.
