Morgan & Co (Strood) Ltd has achieved chain of custody certification to three major certification schemes, a move which it says will greatly increase its options in sourcing certified timber.

The Rochester-based company is certified to the Forest Stewardship Council, Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes and the new generic BM TRADA Certification Ltd scheme. It says it is the first UK timber company to achieve all three schemes at once.

Joint managing director Robert Morgan said: “We had been putting chain of custody procedures in place for some time, but it would be fair to say that we were concerned about availability of certified timber. Being able to source timber under all three schemes, rather than simply FSC and PEFC, greatly increases our options.”

BM TRADA‘s Forest Products Chain of Custody Certification Scheme allows the company to continue chain of custody through to its customers for certified timber from Malaysia (Malaysian Timber Certification Council), Canada (Canadian Standards Association) and the US (Sustainable Forestry Initiative).
