Stora Enso has announced a new round of investment to upgrade its Kotka whitewood sawmill in Finland.

As part of a massive spending programme across its Nordic, Baltic and Russian timber operations, the company is putting €8m into “renovating” the Kotka sawline. The upgrade will be completed by August and boost mill output to 320,000m3 a year.

New equipment will enable the facility to use larger logs and facilitate “efficient raw material procurement closer to the mill”.
