The most recent names to sign the motion include Edward Vaizey, Joan Walley and Christopher Fraser. Earlier signatories included Liberal Democrat party president Simon Hughes and former Lib-Dem leader Charles Kennedy.

The motion, proposed by Paddy Tipping MP, recognises the benefits of wood as a sustainable construction material and supports Wood for Gold‘s efforts to make the 2012 London Olympics a showcase for the wood industry.

Organisations supporting Wood for Gold include TRADA, The Timber Trade Federation, British Woodworking Federation, Wood for Good, ConFor and the Construction Products Association.
