The European Social Fund is backing a series of courses for the timber and forestry industry using Napier University‘s web learning management system. These will be piloted in Scotland where they will be free of charge before being extended across the UK.
The first – Supervisory Management – will go online in April, a spokesman said. Topics include workforce motivation and performance, communication and training, absence and grievance procedures, and health and safety.
“There are no minimum enrolment requirements, but participants must be IT-literate and able to relate the course material to their everyday work. Employers need to provide a supervisor or manager able to discuss the subjects as well as oversee the results of in-company activities.”
