Glulam is in the running to feature in the basketball and fencing arenas at the London 2012 Olympic Games after the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) revealed the design teams shortlisted to tender for the venues.

Moelven Glulam is listed alongside Biong Architects and Norwegian construction consultant Olav Olsen in one design team invited to tender for the 12,000 capacity basketball and 8,000 capacity fencing arenas.

“We are looking for design teams to provide innovative solutions for important temporary arenas such as basketball and fencing,” said ODA chief executive David Higgins.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the submissions put forward from the impressive teams on the shortlist,”

Other companies on the shortlist include NÜSSLI International Ltd, which constructed the wood elements of the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2007 in London’s Hyde Park, and architects Faber Maunsell.
