M&M Timber Ltd has reported a 40% boost in its sales during December, with annual turnover in 2008 expected to reach a record high.

The Kidderminster company cited the growing demand for long-life timber, which it has moved to supply by introducing products treated with Osmose’s MicroPro technology, for the positive results.

M&M offers a 15-year service life guarantee for products treated with MicroPro.

“There’s no doubt the current economic climate will present us all with challenges,” said managing director Nigel Poyner.

“But we have to be prepared for the future and, despite the uncertainties, we have continued with our long-term investment programme.”

This includes more than £200,000 on a new drying kiln and associated sanding technology for micronised timber, which Mr Poyner said is “without doubt going to prove a major influence on our future market gains”.
