Environment minister Phil Woolas has been confirmed as one of the speakers at TTJ’s Wood Futures Conference at the Royal Festival Hall on November 8.

The event, being held in association with Medite 2016 Forum, will explore the challenges and opportunities for the timber industry created by rising environmental awareness and the drive for sustainable development.

Mr Woolas, who has responsibility for policy relating to timber procurement, illegal logging and promotion of sustainable forest management, will give the government’s perspective on the timber industry’s environmental performance.

Other speakers include Paul King, chief executive of the Green Building Council, Dr Peter Bonfield, BRE chief executive and leader of construction products for the Olympic Delivery Authority, Tim Rollinson, director-general of the Forestry Commission and Louise O’Neill, supplier exchange manager with Marks & Spencer’s corporate social responsibilities team.
