Mieco Manufacturing Sdn Bhd has unveiled plans to build the largest particleboard mill in Asia.

Fully on stream, the plant in Malaysia will be producing 2,000 m3 of particleboard a day.

The new facility will be near Mieco’s other particleboard plants in Pahang State.

The company has contracted Dieffenbacher GmbH and Co of Germany to supply the production systems and processing equipment and engineering services.

The continuous production facility will is expected to use low grade recycled wood and saw dust among its raw materials.

It will be built on a 20 hectare sigte and the completed plant will be 300m long and 80m wide .

The first consignment of machinery from Dieffenbacher is expected to arrive in Malaysia in May 2004. Plant installation and commissioning will start in the second half of the year and the mill should be up and running by December.

  The finished product will be sold in Malaysia and exported throughout Asia.
