Christella Golby has been elected president of the Midlands Timber Trades Benevolent Society (TTBS) – she is only the second woman to hold the post since the regional committee formed in 1904.

Ms Golby, who was appointed at the annual general meeting last month, is a director of trussed rafter and engineered timber frame kit manufacturer Wyckham Blackwell.

She has been with the company for more than 10 years and is responsible for customer liaison and human resources.

“Christella was unanimously approved as president in recognition of her TTBS fund-raising and for her contribution as a member of the Midlands committee,” said Ivan Savage, TTBS general manager.
