Metnor Construction has won a contract to provide the timber frame structure for a £2.6m primary care centre near Newcastle.

The company will design and build a 2,145m2 two-storey, energy efficient timber frame building for Northumberland Care Trust on the site of a former sweet factory in Ponteland.

The closed panel kit, being manufactured by Trivselhus in Sweden, will arrive on site in July and will take four weeks to erect. The kit includes insulation, power conduits, vapour barriers and plasterboard already fixed.

Once complete, the centre will provide a new home for the White Medical Group and Ponteland Medical Group, serving 18,000 patients.

Jill Mitchell, west locality primary care manager for Northumberland Care Trust, said: “This new build will allow us to modernise and expand the range of services which are provided to the population.”
