Chris Mennie of Paterson Timber has taken over the role of president of the Scottish Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society.
Mr Mennie is sales manager for Paterson Timber and has been with the company 16 years having previously held various positions at John Woyka and Garland and Roger.
In 1997 and 1998 he was president of the Scottish Master Wrights and was also a member of the Master Court of The Incorporation of Wrights in Glasgow for several years.
“Our aims are to help those in reduced circumstances who have been employed in the timber industry for at least 10 years,” said Mr Mennie. “Scotland is a major centre for timber production in the UK and it is our responsibility to ensure that beneficiaries are made as comfortable as possible in their hour of need. The Scottish TTBS have a proud history and I will endeavour to carry on that great tradition.”
Mr Mennie, who lists as his interests golf (with an impressive handicap of seven), curling and tennis, takes over from Iain Rough of International Plywood.
