Importer MDM Timber Ltd is looking to the future with a move to new freehold premises in Basildon.
The move, an investment of £360,000, gives MDM 4,200ft2 of office space to manage its softwood and sheet materials import operations. For the past 12 years it has been based at Rayleigh, about 10 miles away.
Managing director Malcolm Allum said: “The main reason for moving premises is in order to further expand our business. In the last few years we felt we have been hamstrung by space.”
He expects the company’s turnover to exceed more than £13m this year, compared with £7m just four years ago. Several new members of staff will be taken on in the near future.
