For the first time MDF has been accepted in France’s greatest art gallery Willamette Europe has supplied more than 700m² of Mediland M1 flame retardant MDF to the Louvre in Paris, where it has been used for internal wall panelling.

The application has led to inquiries from other French galleries and museums about using the material.

Geoff Rhodes, marketing and sales director of Willamette Europe, said: ‘Museums and art galleries provide a valuable market for the use of MDF.

‘It’s also a tightly-knit community, one that is highly-conscious of environmental requirements because of the delicacy of many precious collections.’

The company’s Medite FR and ZF (zero formaldehyde) has already been used at the Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Museum and the Museum of London.
